Senator Bond: Obama wants judges who consider homosexuals as actual people!

Okay, Bond didn’t say that directly but he implied it. What an ass…

Taking the stage as one of the pre-program speakers at a Sarah Palin rally here in Rush Limbaugh’s hometown, Sen. Kit Bond, R-Missouri, fired up the crowd by warning them about Barack Obama’s judicial philosophy.

“Just this past week, we saw what Barack Obama said about judges,” Bond said. “He said, ‘I’m tired of these judges who want to follow what the Founding Fathers said and the Constitution. I want judges who have a heart, have an empathy for the teenage mom, the minority, the gay, the disabled. We want them to show empathy. We want them to show compassion.’”

I can’t make this stuff up…

The Huffington Post is reporting that Joe the Plumber stood John McCain up today at a rally in Defiance, OH.  It seems he only “rears his head” when his fantasy wife, Sarah Palin, is on stage or when he wants to discuss foreign policy. The most disturbing issue in the report is John McCain asking kids to miss school because he can’t fill the bleachers at his rally. I’m not lying, check it out.

Two New Ads

The first ad hammers home the central message Obama has diligently pushed.  That is, John McCain = George Bush. The twist, taxes. Just watch. I think McCain = Bush is something Obama hammered home a few weeks ago. He should have branched off that foundation to show how he is the same earlier. This is a strong ad though.

The second ad seems to push two themes; Obama’s ability to unify and his trustworthiness.  It shows Obama as a uniting figure in a very positive tone.  It also gives American people confidence by tossing around names like Warren Buffett and General Powell.

Quick follow up…

I just saw the McCain follow-up ad. Total fail. Does he expect anyone who just watched Obama’s caring and hopeful message to buy negativity and lies? Does he think people will think, “Oh, he isn’t ready to lead. This ad must be right…”??? To conclude, John McCain could never pull of such an ad (see his Walter Reed slip during his convention speech). His temperament would not come off as welcoming. His coldness would  and lack of intellect would be obvious. His  ability to speak directly to the American people is astonishing. The straight on camera view is something only Obama can pull off. John McCain also doesn’t seem to have a single idea on the issues addressed. He could not give off the confidence and self-assurance of Obama. John McCain is not Obama. He is not presidential. The campaign and politics of fear will end in 143 hours…

If I hear one more thing about Rashid Khalidi or Ayers…or any association the Barack Obama might be a terrorist then I am moving to Canada. In my opinion, Obama should counter this with an ad documenting McCain’s association with Khalidi in Florida, where there is a large Jewish population. The campaign is almost over, no one will remember. It won’t hurt at this point. The campaign of fear must be stopped.

Obamercial

People will dissect this tomorrow. Here are some quick thoughts that will hopefully spur the conversation.

Senator Obama portrayed himself as an embodiment of the American dream tonight. To be blunt, Obama said, look, I am wholly American. I understand what you have been saying.  In fact, I am going to let you help me tell your story tonight.  I am not scary. I am actually quite trusting.

Barack Obama came across as presidential and authentically American.  He spoke clearly about complex issues in simple terms.  His narrator-like voice told stories that illustrate what life is like for a majority of Americans. For the first time in 8 years, a presidential candidate spoke to me like I was an adult and directly addressed important domestic issues.  He was compassionate, understanding, and proves he just gets it.

He emphasized the importance of limited government and personal responsibility. While not directly saying it, he recognized the fact that small government is no longer possible in our globalized and complex nation.

Some other notes… He focused on small-business.  This intentional emphasis is a direct counter to the bogus “Joe the Plumber” argument. He did not mention John McCain. He remained neutral on the positive/negative message. That is, he didn’t over-focus on America’s problems and he didn’t under-focus on America’s greatness. I did not like the “Live Obama Event” message. We knew it was coming. His emphasis on Al-Qadia, seen throughout the campaign, is another preemptive strike on a possible Bin Laden video. It is also what he believes. He tugged at military strings with a four star general and their growing resentment about Iraq.  While they may support the idea, they obviously want their husband, wife, son, or daughter home. The emphasis on family values. The ad was targeted at the working, white-man vote. Reading Harry Potter with his girls, speaking to them on the phone each night, etc. This stuff was powerful. His podium prop signs say Vote, no longer Obama/Biden. At no point was the emphasis on him, he was very humble. He even admitted he is not perfect and will make mistakes, but will honestly serve the American people.

How will this be criticized? There was the Google CEO, a four star general, popular governors and senators,m middle class families, focus on personal responsibility, and emphasis on uniting America. It is now obvious he will lower taxes, for essentially everyone. My favorite line: “I will listen to you when we disagree. I will open the doors of gov’t and ask you to be involved again.”….Wow. Vote.

Obama’s Sitcom

It really is more of a sitcom than an ad, according to this story from the Times. This should be moving. It could possibly ice the cake if the message gets out.

Reality v. Perception

“There is a big difference between reality and perception [about] our relationship.” Sarah Palin on her relationship with the Felon Senator.

Freedom of Speech

This issue has been discussed before. Obama provided mics for protesters in Florida while McCain speaks over the noise. This is new though…it seems campaign aides are profiling those in attendance and forcing them to leave.

Sarah Palin Fighting Back, GOP Corruption, and the VP pick.

Here is something that deserves some thought though.

A lot of people have speculated as to what is going on in the McCain camp these days. Tension is the word being used.  Here are my thoughts. Sarah Palin is incredibly uneducated. She is far from ready to lead the United States of America. To that extent, she is not fit to govern Alaska in my opinion.  I get sick of seeing her play the “executive experience” card.  The tension we hear about is Sarah Palin coming to the realization that John McCain took advantage of her relative inexperience, young age, looks, and gender to rally the Republican base.  She initially convinced herself she really was qualified to be the potential president. She was confident that John McCain picked her because of her experience and “small town values.”  As she delved into the world or presidential politics, she couldn’t help but to become self-aware of her inability to lead this great nation. I think she wants to remain a leading figure in the GOP and actually thinks she can make a run in 2012.  For now, Sarah Palin has realized that she is a pawn in the Republican’s sick game of chess they are playing with America’s future and she doesn’t like it. Sarah, for your resilience to this, I salute you.

Here is one last point thought…If we take Palin for face value and realize that there were many experienced candidates, some even female, that John McCain could have picked one must ask, why didn’t he?  Well, he did vet some leading GOP figures prior to picking Palin on a whim. What does this say about the candidates he vetted?  Skeletons in the closet. It is the only answer. With knowledge of GOP corruption, the notion of an inexperienced maverick from Alaska made complete sense to McCain at the time.

Verizon and AT&T provide freebies to the McCain’s Ranch

This is exactly what we need more of! The Washing Post is reporting that McCain allowed Verizon and AT&T to provide two cell towers on his property.  The problem? McCain is the chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee which oversees the FCC.  Additionally, five members of his campaign staff have lobbied for Verizon, including Rick Davis (his campaign manager). Even if it was done legally, does the man not realize the public perceives such decisions?
